In January 2024, Nepal experienced a surge in tourism with a remarkable 79,100 visitors. This figure represents a noteworthy increase of 24,026 compared to the same month in 2023 when the tourist count stood at 55,074. India emerged as the leading contributor to tourism in Nepal, with 24,139 tourists, showcasing a substantial rise from the 16,436 recorded in January 2023.
Other notable tourist arrivals were 7,267 from China, 7,047 from the United States, 4,619 from Thailand, 3,812 from South Korea, 3,629 from Bangladesh, and 3,421 from Australia. Additionally, 3,276 tourists arrived from the United Kingdom, 2,229 from Bhutan, and 1,568 from Japan during the month. This influx of diverse international visitors signals a positive trend for Nepal’s tourism industry and underlines the growing appeal of Nepal as a favored destination.
