As per the recent amendments made by Nepal Rastra Bank on Foreign Investment and Foreign Loan Management Regulations Act 2078, NRB has waived the requirement for its approval for foreign investments in companies listed on the Nepal Stock Exchange Limited (NEPSE).
Earlier, it was mandatory that any foreign investment in Nepal should be approved by the central bank of Nepal. But, as of now NRB has arranged that its approval is not required if the investments are made in three sectors: foreign investments in Nepali industries that do not diminish the overall shareholding ratio of Nepali shareholders, foreign investments in companies already listed on the stock market, and foreign investments in ailing industries as per the Industrial Business Act, of 2076.
