This measure is intended to stabilize the stock price and demonstrate the stakeholders’ commitment to the company’s long-term success. The lock-in period helps prevent sudden mass sell-offs that could adversely impact the stock’s value shortly after the IPO.
Once the lock-in period expires, these shareholders are free to sell their shares on the share market, potentially affecting the stock’s supply and demand dynamics. In Nepal, there is a lock-in period of 3 years on companies from sectors like hydropower, investment, manufacturing & processing, and hotels following the allotment of IPOs to the general public.
In this post, we have updated the list of lock-in period and its end date of recently listed hydropower companies in Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE). For example; SAHAS lock-in period ends at 3 Oct, 2024 & NYADI lock-in period ends at 22 Oct, 2024 and MBJC lock-in period ends at 29 Oct, 2024. Also, lock-in period of RURU ends at 16 April, 2024 this year.
